The objective of this seminar is to familiarize the attendees with the benefits of building mid-rise construction with lightweight steel framing. The use of lightweight steel framing is growing across North America and has many practical advantages. The session will illustrate that lightweight steel framing is a practical and cost-effective method for the construction for mid-rise buildings. The speaker will use case studies of his own projects and demonstrate how CFS is used successfully.
Raymond graduated with distinction from Queen's University in 1986, and began his career in the construction management industry. In 1990, he founded Van Groll Engineering Inc., a structural professional engineering company specializing in residential and commercial construction and light gauge steel design. In 1997, he co-founded Atkins + Van Groll Inc. Consulting Engineers with Jonathan Atkins. With over 25 years of experience, Raymond specializes in mid-rise structural buildings and light gauge steel construction. He assisted in the development of Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute's (CSSBI) Light Weight Steel Framing Design Manual. Some of his most notable projects in structural design and construction include Chelster Hall Estate in Oakville, the Louis Vuitton Flagship Store in Toronto, The Rosseau, J.W. Marriott Resort & Spa, and Corktown Condominiums in Toronto.
